| Cognitive behaviourial therapy (CBT) tends to focus on practical objectives and is mostly carried out in NHS settings, although it has increasingly become available at a number of community-based counselling organisations. CBT is usually offered as a short term treatment, mostly in individual sessions although it is sometimes offered in groups. It aims to change people's patterns of thinking and/or behaviour, and in so doing change the way you feel. | ||
| For most NHS services you will need to be referred by your doctor or another professional. | ||
