NHS & Social Services
Services provided by the NHS and the Local Authority (Council) are known as statutory sector services, as distinct from private services, or from services provided by charities which are known as voluntary sector services.
South London & Maudsley NHS Trust
In Lambeth, the majority of specialised NHS mental health services are provided by the South London & Maudsley NHS Trust (SLaM). The Trust employs a number of mental health professionals, including psychiatrists, community psychiatric nurses (CPNs), psychologists and occupational therapists, who may work in hospitals or in the community. SLaM NHS Trust also provides mental health services in the neighbouring boroughs of Southwark, Lewisham and Croydon.
For a list of SLaM's services, see their website: www.slam.nhs.uk.
If you have problems contacting any services run by SLaM NHS Trust, phone the Trust's switchboard number: 020 3228 6000.
Lambeth Social Services
The Local Authority or Council, the London Borough of Lambeth, is responsible for social services provision in the borough. Mental health social workers, for instance, are employed by Lambeth Social Services. See Lambeth Council's website: www.lambeth.gov.uk for more information about the services they provide.
Lambeth Integrated Mental Health Services
Many services, such as the community mental health teams, involve SLaM NHS Trust working together with Lambeth Social Services as Lambeth Integrated Mental Health Services.
NHS Lambeth
NHS Lambeth (formerly known as Lambeth Primary Care Trust or PCT) has overall responsibility for the budget for NHS services in Lambeth - this covers everything from hospital services to local doctors (GPs). See website: www.lambeth.nhs.uk.
